In the meantime & after he played in bands like Dull Schicksal, Trespassers W, Morzelpronk, AA Kismet, Liana Flu Winks, VRIL and Coolhaven. At the same time he was organizing concerts, events and films, first at the Jazzbunker in Rotterdam later on the Dissonanten festival, the Dissidenten festival, Popifilm, Dodorama and finally WORM, a multimedia centre for experimental art.

Nowadays he collaborates with lots of people from different backgrounds. For instance; Apricot My Lady (with Ann La Berge and theBohman Brothers), Vril (with Bob Drake, Pierre Omer and Chris Cutler), Goh Lee Kwang (Kuala Lumpur), Jim Whelton (London). Pierre Bastien(Paris/Rotterdam), Dave Brown (Melbourne), The static Tics (with Henk Bakker and Steve Beresford), Eugene Chadbourne (USA), and lots of other people. He's still involved with WORM, mostly working in the elctronic studio and making radiophonic pieces. It’s only since appr. 3 or 4 years that Simonis started to play solo-concerts, after (and before) the release of his first solo album, STOTS, which got a good reception.

I got that from here, which you should check out because there is some good links with more info on it.

TRUST THE POP!

Anyways,

BUY IT!

D-Load!

Extreme Animals - I Gotta B Me

This 2005 release is the first album I ever heard from Extreme Animals and I haven't come down since. This group never fails in leaving your brains strewn across your row of F-keys. Side A, Kites - The Hidden Family, is full of over saturated blip melodies accompanied by freak out babbling and childhood mindscape singalongs. Lots of nice cut-up sound collage bits. Side B, Prurient - White, is minimalist destruction. Synth based noise, delay riddled vocals, and primitive drumming allow for a violent excursion into one's own psychosis. Prurient's lyrics keep this one interesting; some real acceptance of inner darkness.

watch from a distance

make your peace

Dead Luke - S/T

Dead Luke is a synth wizard from Madison, Wisconsin. Classic 90's Punk and Psych from Texas, in a low budget package. Old sleeve spray painted blue and red, silkscreened poster wrapping. There's a story behind this shit though, Mark Migliore seems to have been the master of the scene in Texas where these bands came from. Mark killed himself. They made this comp. The punk songs on this are Good! "I want you" is a jewel. This comp does a good job of showcasing a scene that was dominated by a small amount of musicians. Besides a few of the groups, they all share members. I'm just gonna paste the story I found.

From someone who actually knew this guy Mark:

Mark Migliore--who took his own life a little over a year ago--had a profound influence on the local music scene, both individually and through his Rockadelic Records, a vinyl-only label dedicated to sounds that could broadly be thought of as psychedelic. Mike Pemberton--of local garage-psych band the Burnin' Rain--was one of the people who knew him well, so it's only fitting that Pemberton's Mind and Eye label issue this tribute to Migliore.

Mark's Dream has done an excellent job of encompassing the span of both Migliore's career and his interests. The Other Side's "I Want You" was Rockadelic's first single, issued in the late '80s; The Sacred Seeds' "Mark's Dream"--on which Migliore played bass--was one of his last projects. Migliore wasn't dogmatic in his tastes, however; if something interested him, he supported it, and two groups that weren't necessarily psych bands but nonetheless benefited from his appreciation--Lithium X-mas ("Halo of Flies," a mis-named Alice Cooper cover) and Hash Palace ("It's Too Late")--also appear.

The local psych scene has an interwoven, family-like vibe reflected in the personnel on Dream: Ubiquitous drummer Chris Gore, who plays on five cuts with four bands; Pemberton--who in addition to Burnin' Rain plays guitar with Fish Eye Lens (another band that featured Migliore as a member, on bass), the Texas Fog Society, and Sacred Seeds; and several other people appear with different bands.

The sound is classic garage psychedelia--tinny keyboards that paint a star-studded background against which fuzzed-out guitars rage and tear, cascading vocals that try to summon some inner light against the darkness, and rhythms that range from spacey ballads to amphetamine-laced workouts, sometimes within a single song. The best of the bunch is Fish Eye Lens' "Cast Your Eyes," an almost-textbook psych exposition. It's a sound whose principal flavor is Roky road--as in the Thirteenth Floor Elevators--but other, more obscure bands like Cold Sun, Shiva's Headband, the Exotics, and the Headstones are in there, too. Mark's Dream is in fact a pretty good insight into what moves the more retro half of the Dallas psych scene, as opposed to the less traditional campers like Bag and Jaloppy.

Rockadelic continues as a label, ably helmed by Migliore's brother. Mark's passing left many painful questions, but documentation of his importance to local music--at least--lies in the grooves of Mark's Dream. "If he hadn't of been around," Pemberton says, "we wouldn't have gone on to do what we have so far. We would've been happy with one album; now we have five. He was a major influence."

-Matt Weitz

Download

Comp of Sub-genre new waves!

What we have here is a prime slice of synth sounds brought to you by an imprint of the label Enfant Terrible along with a club night in Amsterdam called Hex, which is responsible for showcasing some prime New Wave and Synth Punk groups and probably some DJs and lots of other good shit. This comp is pretty much just prime sleezy, greasy, dark synth vibes along with some more post punky synthyness, all songs have catchy vibes of synths and rythym machines. There is some creepy cave dwelling crystals of sounds that make my spine writhe with gloom. Also many catchy tunes. I mispelt everything so you may wanna get the tracklist from the link below if you care about it being spelling error free. The sleeve art is that rad that you can't spell it.

Here's a description from the label: "On the LP are twelve bands that all performed live on stage at Hex. Ten out of the twelve tracks are exclusive recorded for this LP (and the other two are absolute hits on the Hex dancefloor). Fuck that download this and forget about OCTOBITCH...

Here's the album art, these beautiful men love trolls.

DOWNLOAD IT!
Buy some of their shit!

Secret Society of the Sonic Six - Nite City PT3

2004 Realease from this Los Angeles based group. This is fucking good, I think, but I am a sucker for sleezy shit. Seriously, though, this album is a really good mix of sinister goth and dub. All the creepy synth fuckery and drivey bass lines make me want to go conquer Lucifer in a dance battle in hell and claim Marilyn Monroe as my prize. The first track of "Megan's LOLZ" is a remixed recording of malfunctioning robotic lions fighting over a dying monk. "Airplanes" has more to do with planes than you think, an acid drenched kamikaze mission with the g-force to melt the grin off your face. "White Jeep" is about motorcycle joyridin' in space.
